What is a watershed?

watershed_epaIn its most basic sense, a watershed is any given land mass and the water that is shed off of it in the form of rain, snow or groundwater, which accumulates in a common area.

Depending on the scale of the region in question, a watershed can be as small as stream or pond, or as large as the Columbia River.

According to Clark County Clean Water, there are 11 watersheds in Clark County. The Burnt Bridge Creek watershed is the largest within the Vancouver city limits.
